So here's the first post. Remains to be seen how (or if) we'll keep this up. Here's our news to date. Paula had applied with Global Mission, ELCA, last year to teach in Slovakia. It has been a dream of hers for some years to culminate her teaching career in the same way she began it--with an adventure. She taught in an oil company school in Algeria from 1971 to 1973. She heard little from GM after the first contact, and since we had heard nothing this year, we thought maybe that was the end of it.
Then she got a call, seemingly out of the blue, before Easter asking whether she was still interested. Upon hearing that she was, GM set up an interview (which was just last Monday), and they called back the next day to say we were accepted. So, Dios quere, we'll leave for Bratislava mid-August. She'll be teaching English and English literature, and I'll be supporting and volunteering in the school library. All of this came to pass in a week. Whew!
